Give your all to every moment

I hear too many leaders nowadays report feeling overwhelmed or burned out. A recent article in the Harvard Business Review confirmed that between 25 and 50 per cent of people report feeling overwhelmed. I believe one of the main reasons for this is that we spend too many hours trying to do too many things at the same time. Stress, lower productivity, bad decision making, more sicknesses, bruised relationships, are some of the consequences.

The remedy? You need to decide to be fully engaged in the present moment of whatever you are doing. Many years ago King Solomon, who was considered the wisest king that ever lived, wrote about this:

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10, TNIV)

In other words, in every opportunity you have to do something, whatever that is, give it your all --your strength, your diligence, your full attention.

Therefore, whether it’s signing a check, listening to a worry, making an important decision, playing with your child, thinking about your vision, taking a walk in the park, sleeping, eating, or anything else, concentrate in giving your all to that moment.

You'll be surprised how much more you will accomplish, and how much lower your stress level will be.

Remember. . .

Multitasking doesn’t work. Giving your all to every moment, being totally present in the now, will not only help you accomplish more, but also to feel calmer and more alive. What helps you stay in the moment?
