Organizations need leaders that can get things done without having to beg, plead, cajole or bribe. You need to be able to inspire people not only to generate ideas, but to bring them into action. Here are three ways you can fuel action to get important things done.
1. Dream big
The bigger the dream, the easier it is to get people involved in it. You can inspire people to action when your vision is large enough. It has to be a compelling issue. Use stories to hit upon the emotion of the audience. It has to be relevant to their day to day work.
When you can use visionary language, you not only awaken the best in people, but also increase their energy level. A big dream is larger than any one leader. The light shines on the dream, not on you as the leader. As a result, you get better collaboration from everybody.
2. Harness conflict
Use energy that conflict brings to move people to action. You need to inspire not only those that agree with you, but make those who oppose you become a part of the dream.
The people who seem resistant to your ideas tend to be vocal and to spend a lot of energy creating conflict. You can transform that negativity into creative energy. Find ways to listen. Then use their language, address their concerns, and enlist them to create needed action.
3. Collaborate
Results come from continuous discipline and incredibly hard work by all. As a leader, you need everybody’s energy. When you work in collaboration, the results are bigger than anything you could accomplish on your own. This includes collaborating with your inside group as well as with clients and outsiders.
Remember. . .
Leadership is a complex interactive process. To get things done you need to know how to mobilize people. Success requires cross-sector cooperation and collaboration. If you dream big, harness conflict, and collaborate you can create a culture of action that can give your organization a competitive advantage.I can help you plan and achieve the growth your deserve.
