Assignment 1 (Due on class 2)

Analyze past change projects you have been involved with and how they worked. Include a description of the change effort, what was the need for change, who was involved, how was it organized and announced, and the positive and negative results in terms of process, accountability, results, and sustainability. If you want to preserve anonymity, you can change names and use a simulated company name. It should not be more than 5 pages and can be written in free style. This should be finished by the second week.

  • Second reaction paper due (chapters 3, 4 of Textbook)
  • Assignment 1 due

Assignment 2 (Due on class 3)

Design a future change project you could implement. It does not need to be big. Justify what type of theory you would use (if any). Describe how would you apply the “six secrets” or not and explain why. Make the plan as detailed as you can, utilizing all the knowledge from your experience, readings, and class discussions. Make sure you use at least 3 books and 5 articles to substantiate your plan. Be prepared to present this in class. Write only 1 page with the Bibliography, unless you want to turn in 1-5 pages with your plan, in free style.

  • Read chapters 5, 6 of textbook and be prepared to discuss in class.

Checklist for Assignment 2:
  • What change
  • What theory you would use as base
  • Application of any of the "six secrets"
  • Detailed plan. To include things like who will be involved and how, specific initiatives, examples of how to implement
  • At least 3 books and 5 articles as reference to support your plan.
