After a couple of dark rainy days, today we had sunshine. My whole outlook was happier, my day was more productive, and even the barren trees looked pretty with the light shining on them. This made me think about leadership.
Some leaders want to shine in the wrong way. They have such a big ego that they want the spotlight always on themselves and what they do. Everything is me, myself, and I. They are the only ones that can do things right. That’s the wrong kind of shine!
Other leaders make everything and everyone around them shine. They have a vision that ignites hope. They have an executable plan that sparks enthusiasm and let’s subordinates shine. They spread words of encouragement that make faces shine. They make connections that warm hearts. They lead their business to shine for it’s excellence in product and service.
That’s the kind of SHINE that makes me smile! Be that kind of leader!
